Prof. Wan Abdul Manan Wan Muda

Wan Manan is currently a professor of nutrition & public health, Graduate School of Public Health, Alma Ata University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A former Professor in Universiti Sains Malaysia (retired). Wan Manan is an ISAK accredited Level 3 Anthropometrist since 2000, and also an Accredited Photoscopic Somatotype Rater. Currently a fellow of Nutrition Society of Malaysia, and International College of Nutrition. His areas of interest are nutrition and physical activity, food security, social determinants of health and nutrition, and issues in higher education.
He has more than 150 scientific and academic publications in peer reviewed journals and 30 books and chapter in books.

He is currently the Chairperson of Persatuan Hak Dapat Makanan Malaysia – HADAM (Right to Food Malaysia). Wa is also an Executive Committee of the World Public Health Nutrition Association (WPHNA).
Wan Manan joined the IPEN in 2010. He was the Malaysia’s country co-ordinator for both the IPEN Adult and IPEN Adolescent studies. His IPEN Malaysia team consisted of four researchers.

Associate Prof. Gs. Dr. Rosilawati Zainol

Gs. Dr Rosilawati Zainol is an Associate Professor at the Centre of Sustainable Urban Planning and Real Estate (SUPRE), Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya (UM). Since joining UM in 2004, she has published quite a number of articles, chapters in books and books related to sustainable urban development and tourism development. Her research interest is in urban analytics (the use of information technology in urban and regional planning and urban studies especially in geographic information systems), spatial analysis and spatial statistics.

Her recent publications include Effects of informal economy towards employment: A systematic review, Geografia; Crime prevention through environmental design and its challenges in reducing crime: a case of Selangor, Malaysia, Security Journal; and Measurement Quality Appraisal Instrument for Evaluation of Walkability Assessment Tools Based on Walking Needs, Sustainability, Investigating the Use of Active Transportation Modes among University Employees through an Advanced Decision Algorithm, Civil and Sustainable Urban Engineering.


She joined Prof. Manan’s IPEN Team in 2012.

Dr Yi Yi Lee

Yi Yi Lee is a Senior Lecturer with the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics at the International Medical University (IMU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Yi Yi is passionate about improving the nutritional status and health of the Malaysian community through the promotion of physical activity and healthy eating practices. Her doctoral thesis focused on the neighbourhood environment walkability in urban areas of Malaysia. In particular, how it is associated with accelerometer-measured physical activity levels, nutritional status, and health of Malaysian adults.

Yi Yi is an appointed member and writer for the country-level Malaysian Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents – Key Message 5 “Be Physically Active Every Day” by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (2021-2023). She is also a Steering Committee Member for the Malaysia Active Healthy Kids Report (MAHK) 2022.

Mr. Mohd Zaid Bin Mohd Ghazali

Mohd Zaid bin Mohd Ghazali is the Head of Centre for Talent Identification and Development (TID) in National Sports Institute of Malaysia/Institut Sukan Negara (ISN). He has been working in ISN for 15 years and involved in various departments such as research in physical activity and exercise science, professional education in sports as well as TID. Mohhd was trained for two (2) weeks at the International Course of Youth Development in Sports: TID in Han University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands in 2019.

Currently, he is pursuing his Master in Sports Science at The University of Putra Malaysia (UPM). Mohd has a passion in active living as well as grassroots talent research in sports. Apart from that, he has represented ISN in various local and international initiatives on active living. This includes being a technical committee member for developing National Sports Index by Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) in 2018. Besides, he was a stakeholder member for the National Strategic Plan for Active Living (NASPAL) Malaysia 2016-2025.

Mohd Zaid was involved in the 2017 National workshop on WHO Field Testing Physical Activity (PA) Technical Package as part of the NASPAL initiative. In addition, he has participated in the National Physical Activity Strategic Think-Tank Group Team from year 2014-2017. Mohd also assisted the Ministry of Health officials in drafting the National Physical Activity Guidelines (2017). In 2016 he became the stakeholder member for The Active Healthy Kids Report Card Malaysia.

In 2017, Mohd Zaid has represented the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia at the first special meeting on the formulation of ASEAN Physical Fitness Indicators (APFI) in Bangkok, Thailand. Here he presented slides on commonly used health and fitness indicators in Malaysia. He attended the first International Physical Environment Network (IPEN) with Prof Dr. James Sallis and other IPEN researchers from all around the globe. It was a valuable opportunity and exposure to be part of the IPEN adolescent research group. Mohd is currently one of the team members for IPEN adolescents in Malaysia.
